About our reed diffusers and reeds

Our fragrances are all Clean Scent certified.  This means that there are five main hazard groups that are not allowed in our products:  Carcinogens, Mutagens, Reproductive toxins, Organ toxins, or Acute toxins.  We want you to be reassured that our fragrances are safe to bring into your home.

Our diffuser oil is non-toxic and VOC (volatile organic compound) compliant in all 50 states.  It does NOT contain DPG (Dipropylene Glycol), unlike many commercial brands of diffusers.  Our reed diffuser oil has been carefully crafted to quickly and easily flow up the reeds, allowing your favorite fragrance to reach its strongest potential.

Our reeds are made from all-natural, responsibly harvested rattan, which we believe makes for the best diffuser reed. Ours are 3mm in diameter, for maximum flow or "wicking" of reed diffuser oil. The slightly wider reed also helps get thicker fragrances "airborne". We’re really picky about our reeds, and here’s why: many reeds on the market are not cut in a clean manner with a sharp blade. Without a sharp, clean-cut, the 20+ cells that make up the reed gets compressed and aren’t able to carry the fragrance to the top of the reed. Our reeds are precision-cut by our supplier on specialized equipment to ensure a clean cut every time and allow the reed to diffuse lots of fragrance.

Even more reason to use our natural rattan reeds. They are made from the rattan plant, a type of climbing palm that grows in tropical regions. The rattan vine is hollow in the middle, so the reeds are cut from the vine and then dried. This process makes them very strong and lightweight, which is why rattan is an excellent material for diffusers.

Compared to bamboo sticks, rattan reeds have more clear hollows and do not have nodes, which interfere with smooth fragrance oil flow.

Compared to fibre reeds, rattan reeds have a slower diffusion rate, meaning it takes longer to absorb and diffuse the fragrance. Or in other words, you need more reeds to achieve the same diffusion.  We send eight reeds initially, which is enough more most rooms.  If you will be placing your diffuser in a large, open space you may want to add extra reeds to your order.

Due to moderate diffusion, rattan reeds take longer to fill, meaning they don’t clog that fast. It’s also an eco-friendly and sustainable option because rattan reeds come from the second-fastest-growing plant. Meaning, the rattan tree is a renewable resource which can regenerate within 5 to 7 years.

Refills available.  We encourage you to reuse or upcycle your glass bottles.  We sell add-on bottles of diffuser fragrances.  After you have purchased a diffuser from us we can set you up on a subscription for diffuser and reed refills (quarterly is usually suggested).  Feel free to try different fragrances!  Many of our diffuser fragrances are also available in our candle, home, bath, and body products as well.

Directions:
Place as many Diffuser Reeds in a bottle of reed diffuser oil as you'd like. We recommend starting with 6-8 reeds, but you may choose to add more.  If the reed diffuser will be fragrancing a very large room, or you enjoy a strong scent, begin with 1-2 more reeds than usual.  Know that the more reeds you use, the more fragrance is released, and the quicker the liquid is used up.  Rotate the reeds every few days for best results.

Warning:  Always ensure that your diffuser bottle is placed on a sturdy, flat surface out of the reach of children and pets.  Never light the reeds, as the oil can be highly flammable.
